Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc.
During the turbulent times of the Civil Rights Movement, Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Incorporated was founded September 19, 1963, at Morgan State College, now known as Morgan State University, in Baltimore, Maryland. Our 12 founders are Albert Hicks, Lonnie Spruill Jr., Charles Briscoe, Frank Coakley, John Slade, Barron Willis, Webster Lewis, Charles Brown, Louis Hudnell, Charles Gregory, Elias Dorsey Jr., and Michael Williams. We live by our motto, "Building A Tradition, Not Resting Upon One." With over 30,000 members, Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Incorporated has active chapters in over 250 schools. Joining the National Pan-Hellenic Council in November 12, 1996, Centaurs have continuously brought innovative ideas to the community.
Alpha Eta Omega Chapter
Alpha Eta Omega Alumni Chapter has proudly served Columbus and it’s surrounding communities since 1999 by providing services and support designed to enhance and enrich our local areas while implementing the programs identified by Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. Under the direction of our current administration, Alpha Eta Omega will be involved in community health forums, leadership development programs for middle school and high school boys, and conduct various community workshops and forums. These are a just few of the many activities that the chapter has presented or supported in partnership with other groups. Our efforts are always focused on outreach for the betterment of our communities.
Alpha Eta Omega Alumni Chapter is a mission-driven, not for profit organization committed to providing quality programming and services to the community. Our mission is to put the principles of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity Inc. into practice through programs that build our youth’s scholastic enrichment, community development, and service to the central Ohio area. Iota Phi Theta Fraternity Inc. is based in Baltimore, Maryland and stationed in over 200 chapters across the United States, including the Middle East and South America. We stand on the principles of Scholarship, Leadership, Citizenship, Fidelity, and Brotherhood among men.
